Cleveland wedding with photos in the streets of Cleveland Ohio.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this blog post for us! I just want to say it was such an honor to shoot Jane and Jake’s wedding. I’ve known Jane and her family for many many years. I still remember shooting photos of Jane as a toddler like it was yesterday. So happy I was able to capture those memories for you, and now your wedding day. You and Jake have a long, happy life ahead of you. Oh, and for someone who does not like being in pictures, Jake was awesome! Your wedding day was amazing. Jane was stunning. December weather allowed us outside for pics. The Aquarium Fish cooperated along with Jake! What more could you ask for?? You guys are the best!
Here is what Jane had to say about her wedding vendors with some great tips for future brides.
My wedding day truly was a dream come true. If I had to do it over, there is not one single thing I would change. From every vendor we worked with, to the flow of the day from start to finish, I was extremely happy. It is true what they say, the day flies by but Michaelangelo’s Photography perfectly captured my wedding day. I am so thankful for the amazing photos they took because Cheryl and Ed provided me with memories of my wedding day that I will have forever.
I am a planner and in some ways a control freak, which surprisingly becomes extremely difficult when planning a wedding. Something I was really nervous about for the wedding day, was staying on schedule. I knew that it was going to be such a crazy (but fun) day. Working with Cheryl, she completely took any stress or nervousness away from the day. She sat down with me and put together a schedule of the day from start to finish. We had specific times set out for each location we took pictures at and what type of photos we were taking in those locations. When the wedding day arrived, Cheryl completely kept everyone on schedule. Without her, it would have been complete chaos. It was so nice to not have to worry about time and to just relax and have fun because that it what this entire day was about.
Attention to detail is something that Michaelangelo’s Photography surpasses. For example, my wedding dress had a train on it and I cannot even describe how many times Cheryl perfectly straightened my train for every single picture. Ed even helped my dad to fix his pocket square prior to taking our photos, now that is dedication. They took their time to make sure every picture was just right, which is no easy task when you have a bridal party of eighteen people to position. Not to mention, I come from a large family so being able to get a family of 31 people, including 6 kids, to position for a picture is not the easiest. I was wowed by their ability to take charge of the group, in order to position everyone just right, while remaining professional and positive the entire day. Something that really stood out to me when I got my photos back, was their ability to creatively capture the City of Cleveland. Our entire day took place downtown CLE and I love that our hometown was highlighted throughout our pictures. I can’t say it enough; they were the best to work with.
My husband and I decided to have a later ceremony immediately followed by our cocktail hour and reception. Our cocktail hour was in the Cleveland Greater Aquarium so we wanted to share that time with our guests. This did not leave us any time to take pictures with each other or with our bridal party. We were going back and forth on multiple different solutions, and struggling with the thought that we would not be able to take the photos at all. I discussed this with Cheryl and she came up with the perfect solution. She suggested that we do a First Look. The moment a groom sees his bride for the first time is special, so we were hesitant at first. We wanted to keep that moment between us and Cheryl completely understood that. She set up a First Look for us that was perfect and only between the two of us. That was one of the best moments of the entire day. I didn’t know that I was going to be hit with so many emotions the first time I saw him turn the corner and walk up the Arcade stairs towards me. I highly recommend this to all future brides and grooms. Seeing him earlier in the day took away any nervous butterfly feelings I had to see him for the first time. After our First Look, we were able to relax and have fun taking pictures with our bridal party. Our First Look did not diminish the memorable feeling of walking down the aisle. The minute I turned the corner to walk down the aisle, I was excited rather than being nervous to see him for the first time. Without direction from Michaelangelo’s Photography, our day would have not been as special.
I was very pleased with all of the vendors we used. Our wedding ceremony and reception was at Windows on the River in Downtown Cleveland. We worked with Bobbi McCartney, who was extremely great to work with and helped so much throughout the planning process. It was nice to go through Windows on the River because you work with one person, rather than multiple vendors. For example, the package you buy at Windows includes catering, tables / chairs, cake, etc. It was so much easier to keep in touch with Bobbi at Windows on the River for all of our thousands of questions that we had. She is very responsive and knowledgeable and her staff was extremely friendly.
The cake included in our package was from Wild Flour Bakery in Rocky River. Our guests really liked the taste of our cake and we had fun customizing all of the layers with different cake and filling flavors. The box you get to take home to taste test includes every cake flavor and filling you can think of. They also provide stands for rental, if you are looking for that.
We used Party Décor for our tablecloths, chair covers and chair sashes. Working with Party Décor, you are able to go to their place of business and physically see the different table setting options they have to offer. It was fun to be able to pick and choose what I wanted right in front of me, versus having to visualize it. She has such a wide variety of beautiful linens to choose from so literally, whatever you dream up, they can deliver.
I worked with Blooms for Brides by Amy Drlik for my flowers. I was highly impressed with the flowers she provided. She is truly an artist when designing the floral arrangements. I went to meet with her and did not have any set direction with where I wanted to go for the look of the flowers. After describing the themes for my wedding and color scheme, she came up with the perfect plan for all of the flowers at my wedding. She was always full of ideas, and very communicative throughout her designing process. She is very reasonably priced and a pleasure to work with. The flowers matched perfectly and were very elegant. I absolutely loved my flowers.
Our late night snack consisted of a donuts display from Peace, Love and Little Donuts. I loved working with them because they customized the donuts to match my wedding colors and they tasted delicious. They were the perfect late night treat that was within our budget. They will come and set up the donuts whenever you need them too and they provide the display cake stands for you. Chelsie Houchens is energetic about her donuts business, which makes her really fun to work with.
Our DJ was Pete Troy with Troy Entertainment and we loved him. They provide you with a log in to their website, which allows you to customize your music for the entire night. This provides you with a chance to create lists for songs that are must plays and songs to not play. Everyone had a great time at our wedding because of the DJ. People kept telling me that they have never been to a wedding where the dance floor was that packed the entire night. He also brought so many fun accessories that he passed out throughout the night on the dance floor (cowboy hats, light up sticks, streamers). He was very easy to work with and brought a lot of fun to our wedding.
My wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses were from The Perfect Bride in Rocky River. Carly, Stephanie and the Perfect Bride team were outstanding. They were so incredibly helpful every step of the way and very pleasant to work with. They worked endlessly to make sure every single detail of my dress was perfect and that I loved it. They answered every single question I had throughout the planning process to ensure that all of the details of my wedding worked into the color scheme of the dresses. I leaned on them for support and they always delivered. The groomsmen wore suits from Men’s Warehouse in Strongsville. They were nice to work with and also found us a great suit within our budget.
